SolarWorld AG officially opened its largest expansion project to date, a new solar photovoltaic (PV) wafer production facility, at the current production location in Freiberg, Germany.
Throckmorton Ridge Fire Station Dedicates Solar Energy System and New Facility
The Marin County Fire Department dedicated its new environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art Throckmorton Ridge fire station. The new station features a 38 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system designed and installed by SPG Solar, Inc. of San Rafael, CA. In addition, the station also has a new geothermal system and a host of green building materials.

Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) announced today that it has signed a three-year supply agreement with a leading North American wind turbine manufacturer, and has received an initial purchase order to supply multi-megawatt power converters against that agreement valued at $12 million. This initial order is to be delivered within 2007.
$1.23 Million Grant from Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Approved for Solar PV Installation at 2 Great Pasture Road, Danbury
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CI), today announced that the Connecticut Clean Energy Investment Committee has approved a grant of $1,228,500 to help defray a portion of the total project cost of installing a 615-kilowatt DC solar photovoltaic (PV) system at an industrial park located at 2 Great Pasture Road in Danbury, Connecticut. This solar PV system, when constructed, will be the largest commercial solar PV installation in Connecticut and one of the largest in New England. CCEF's funding will be provided through its On-site Renewable Distributed Generation (DG) Program.
Mixed Reviews for Ontario's Feed-in Tariff
It's been six months since the Canadian province of Ontario started its Standard Offer Program (SOP), which created the first feed-in tariff (FIT) in North America for renewable energy in over twenty years. The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) says the program has been a great success to date, but some solar advocacy groups are criticizing OPA for setting the solar tariff too low and not encouraging community-based renewable energy generation.
